Salvia chamelaeagnea is a very hardy, evergreen, small to medium sized shrub with light green leaves that contrast well with the darker green leaves of other shrubs.
Spikes of blue and white flowers are borne throughout the summer and attract nectar-feeding birds and butterflies to the garden.
They also make an attractive cut flower.
It is an attractive, easy plant to grow in well-drained soil with lots of compost.
Plant in full sun or semi-shade areas. A pure white flowering form is also in cultivation.
