Lampranthus coccineus is a rare, hardy, evergreen, spreading succulent shrub with grey-green, linear, succulent leaves. It has a neat shape and masses of dazzling, glistening crimson flowers in late winter and spring. Bees and other important pollinating insects are attracted to these bright, pollen-rich flowers.
Plant on banks in a mixed succulent bed or containers.
Plant in full sun, and well-drained, sandy soil.
Plants need little care and can tolerate long periods of hot, dry conditions.
This plant is endangered due to habitat loss.
